On March 18th, we hosted a special sake pairing dinner at Glass Box, an Asian coastal-inspired kitchen in the heart of Del Mar, San Diego. The evening brought together food lovers, sake fans, and curious first-timers for a relaxed and flavorful night that was all about discovery, connection, and of course—great sake.

A Special Dinner, Thoughtfully Paired

For $65 per guest, attendees enjoyed 5 course dinner with carefully curated sake pairings for each dish. Vendors visited each table to explain the story behind each sake, offering insight into the brewing process, the regions they came from, and the flavors to expect. This personal touch helped create a deeper connection between the guests and the sake they were sipping.

Many shared that this was their first time experiencing sake in such a structured and thoughtful way—beyond the typical sushi bar setting—and they were pleasantly surprised by how well it complemented the food.

A Diverse Crowd, United by Sake

About 40 guests joined us for the evening, including families, couples, and groups of friends. The age range spanned from 20s to 60s, with an even mix of men and women. Some attendees were seasoned sake drinkers who regularly attend tasting events, while others were just beginning to explore what sake has to offer.

It was a beautifully mixed crowd—people from all kinds of backgrounds coming together over a shared appreciation for food and culture. The room buzzed with conversation, curiosity, and the kind of energy that only good drinks and good company can create.

Raffle Fun & Bottles to Go

To wrap up the evening, we held a raffle with fun prizes and opened up the chance for guests to purchase their favorite bottles from the night. It was a great way to let the experience continue at home—and many guests took advantage of the opportunity.

One especially memorable detail: a representative from Shizuoka, Japan, flew in to attend the event. For many guests, this added a special authenticity and excitement to the night—connecting them directly to the source of the sake they were enjoying.

We’re thrilled with how the event turned out, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
Thank you to everyone who joined us—we hope to share another night of sake, stories, and great food with you again soon.
